CEREC 3 is a high tech computer machine dentists use to manufacture tooth restorations, like crowns (caps), fillings and veneers. Chairside means the dentist can provide the treatment (crown, veneer, etc) in one patient visit and ceramic refers to the final product - a non-metallic restoration which is bonded to the existing or remaining tooth structure. As such, CEREC restorations are extremely durable and natural looking.
Steps to Have a Cerec Restoration in 1 Visit Step
1: Prepare Tooth Step
2: Take Optical Image - Picture of the tooth with 3D wand Step
3: Design the Restoration on the computer Step
4: Mill the Restoration in the Milling Unit (approximately 10min)
5: Bond Restoration to the Tooth
Your dentist will recreate your tooth on the computer to
make a restoration that will precisely fit into the prepared
tooth. The restoration is then milled out of a solid block
of porcelain. (shown below) These restorations are strong
durable pieces of porcelain that are bonded to the tooth allowing
for minimal tooth structure removal. The procedure would usually
take two visits but the CEREC makes it possible with one single
visit! Now your tooth can be fixed in one visit with a white
restoration that can last for many many years. It is conservative,
esthetic, precise, and convenient! more info -
